Joe-Wagner-bioWhat is your greatest joy?

More than anything I like spending time with my  family. It doesn’t matter to me if it’s a road trip or just sitting home watching TV, I love being with them. Melissa and I still try to have a date night every week and we try to get a family movie/game night in every once in a while.

What is your favorite place to visit and why?

Without question, Estes Park Colorado and Rocky Mountain National Park.

I was introduced to Colorado with the Youth Group back when I was in high school. Later Melissa and I honeymooned there. We arrived a week before Memorial day in 1995 and the pass through the mountains was still closed due to 11 foot high snow drifts. I don’t think we saw the mountains all week. It may have been our last day before we saw the snowy peaks. We visited again with the kids in 2003 and went again 2014. We have a trip planned for the fall of 2015 to celebrate our 2nd honeymoon.

I’m not the kind of person who is looking for adventure on a vacation. A hike or scenic drive is pretty good for me. Just sitting in the cool mountain air and enjoying the view makes me happy.

What fascinates me?

I’m kinda fascinated by the brain. I think if I had it all to do over again I would maybe become a psychiatrist. I’m often wondering why the brain works a certain way. Or how actions are often related to personality styles. One of my favorite thoughts has to do with music. I’m amazed at the brains capacity to remember, lyrics, melody, harmony, tempo, and rhythm. Not just for one song, but for hundreds or thousands. Think about a song on the radio. You just don’t hear the melody and lyrics in your head, but you hear the singers voice, and all the instrumentation. WOW!

About my family

Melissa and I have been married since 1995 and were married by Pastor Paul at Oak Brook Community Church. We have 2 boys. Ben who has his sights set on intercultural studies, and Joe who is looking to study music and wants to be worship pastor. I have been more than blessed by God. He gave me an amazing, godly wife and 2 boys who want to serve in ministry.
